Fantastic Engineering and Construction, Great Company, June 20, 2011

The only thing I was worried about was the weight. I had such a bad back I could hardly lift my son, and I was worried about the UPPABaby Vista Stroller. But one of the great features of the Uppababy Vista Stroller is that you can choose to fold it all together, or you can detach the seat and load it into your car separately from the frame. This makes it completely manageable for me.
I spent about a year looking for the perfect stroller, even going so far as to buy a cheapo for the first few months of my son’s life in hopes that I could eventually find something awesome. I had a full set of criteria – the stroller had to be lightweight, easy to fold (no more than 2 steps), have a large easy to access basket (for diaper bags and all my shopping), preferably would be able to remain standing when folded, do both front and rear facing, support my graco carseat, should be able to last until my child no longer needs a stroller, should be able to support a second child with add-ons, and should be rugged enough to do some minor off-roading.
Ok, I know, thats a crazy list and for a while, I thought it was impossible. Everything I saw was missing a few features. I kept thinking if only I could merge several of the strollers together I’d have the perfect one. As an engineer, I’m very picky and I was really disappointed at how every company out there seemed to excel in just one or two features, while ignoring all the rest. And to be honest, most of what was out there wasn’t very well built. I was willing to spend a lot of money on a stroller, if all the features were there, but even the super high end didn’t make the grade.
But then I found the UPPABaby Vista. Needless to say, I completely love UPPABaby Vista Stroller. It is the only stroller I have ever found that fits ALL of my criteria, and does it well. We’ve had it several months now and my son loves it as much as we do. And as a bonus, it’s less expensive than your super high end strollers like the stokke or bugaboo, but in my opinion, is much better designed.
Multiple uses for the Cadillac of Strollers, June 20, 2011

When we went to Disneyworld (she was 12 weeks), we took only the main seat. We flew and used Disney transportation, so we didn’t need her carseat. I purchased the Infant Snugseat Insert, and she was completely comfortable in the seat. We loved being able to face her towards us or away, depending on whether she was looking around or we wanted to keep an eye on her. And it laid back far enough for her to comfortably nap in. The sunscreen was helpful, too, in keeping her somewhat shaded. For this trip, we also bought the travel bag. This made it easy to break the stroller down and gate check it right before we got on the plane. I was not comfortable simply handing over such an expensive stroller to the baggage handlers, but in the bag, UPPABaby Vista Stroller was safe and secure. The huge storage basket was so nice, because we never had to carry anything in the parks (cameras, Camelbaks, purchases, etc.).
We have the carseat adapter for the Graco Snugride. This is wonderful when the baby is still in an infant carrier. For me, a snap-n-go would not have worked, because both my husband and I are over 6′ (6’1″ and 6’2″). This stroller is a dream to maneuver, and with just the carseat adapter, it doesn’t take up much room in the car.
When she was newborn, we’d put her to nap in the bassinet so we could wheel her to whatever part of the house we were in. As she got older, we used it as her travel bed. She’s 6 months and is still able to sleep in this when we’re at my parents. It takes up far less room in a small house than a pack-n-play, plus you can reposition it while she sleeps, if needed. We’ve honestly used the bassinet far more than I imagined.
I’ve had the UppaBaby Vista 2011 in Yellow/Maya for 6 months now (well, I’ve had it longer…but only had a baby to put in it for 6 months!). We’ve gotten so much use out of every part of the stroller.
I do not feel UPPABaby Vista is too heavy for what it is. Mostly, I’m putting it in/out of our Volvo XC70 wagon with just the carseat adapter. It’s not heavy at all to me. When I have to switch to the full seat, it does get bulkier, but it is a full-size stroller…not a lite or umbrella stroller.
Oh, and I bought the cupholder, and I really love it way more than I thought I would. It’s super handy and convenient.
Cons
- Is difficult to fold with seat rear-facing. It’s actually better to switch it to face forward and then fold.
- Will be heavy with entire seat, but hey, it’s a full-size stroller
Pros:
- Included sunshade
- Bassinet is far more handy than you’d imagine
- High handle for tall parents
- Drives like a dream
- Seat faces forward or back and reclines to sleeping position
- Optional cupholder is great!
- Huge storage basket
- Optional travel bag gives you peace of mind
